Bito is an internationally operating industrial company in the field of bearing and picking technology. At its headquarter in Meisenheim, Germany, they produce shelves, process sheets and handle shipping. In the past, the location has been expanded repeatedly, and most recently, there were only limited options for new spaces.
To be able to use the full potential of the location, agiplan has realigned the location together with Bito’s project team, and carried out the respective detailed planning. "Our task was not only to develop the manufacturing method in a flexible and efficient way, and to improve the material usage and the quality, but also, for example to restructure the entire logistics at the location to reduce lead time," states agiplan’s project manager Karsten Tilgner.
The solution is a new "logistics belt"
Within a project period of only five months, agiplan managed to provide this service by analysing existing processes and material flow, as well as by defining the requirements of the buildings and an ideal layout. "Our solution was the optimisation of various production halls and the expansion of the logistics structure", says Tilgner. "In this way the material flow has been improved significantly."
When all measures are implemented, there could be potential savings of about 250.000 Euros per year, due to optimised material flow within the production and between production and logistics. With the new structure of the facility, the future of the location is secured and further growth is possible.
