Konica Minolta Business Solutions Germany GmbH offers complete solutions for print and document workflows in the B2B segment. This includes hardware and software, services and support.
At the start of the project, approximately 150 systems were pre-installed each day at the central hub in Solingen. But customer orders became increasingly complex, making an increase in efficiency necessary.
In order to meet the market demand, Konica Minolta commissioned agiplan with the development of a concept to increase the number of pre-installed systems. "They had reached the limit with their existing structures", says Steffen Koch, agiplan senior consultant. "So we put a number of processes to the test to really uncover all potentials."
Employees involved in the implementation
The result was a catalogue of more than 150 individual measures, presented in a flexible multi-stage model, so as not to interfere with live operations. The key factors for success: streamlined processes, optimum use of space, short transport distances, reduced inventories and structured workstations.
The staff were involved in the implementation throughout. The result: after just nine months a new factory record was set, with more than 350 pre-installed systems in one day - that's an increase of more than 100% compared to the previous average. "We've found that good things can get even better," says Dirk Baldin, Konica Minolta's head of supply chain management. "That is why we also believe in further potential and look forward to a long-term future with agiplan."
